Tech Donation from Coastal Maine Regional Broadband Boosts MYC Programs
The Midcoast Youth Center (MYC) has received technology donations from Coastal Maine Regional Broadband (CMRB) to support its Career Opportunities & Advancing Skills Together (C.O.A.S.T.) workforce development program. The donations, delivered in December 2024 and January 2025 by CRMB elves, includes five refurbished laptops, ten Chromebooks, three desktop computers, and a Mac Studio video and audio production suite.
This equipment will modernize the Maine Career Exploration program’s computer lab, enabling participants to create resumes, complete job applications, and conduct work skills assessments. Additionally, the Teen Center’s Compass Afterschool program will launch a new audiovisual production educational initiative using the donated Mac Studio equipment.
“This is incredibly generous, and we are so excited to partner with CMRB to increase equitable access to technology for our young people and families,” said Jamie Dorr, Executive Director of Midcoast Youth Center.
The donation aligns with CMRB’s mission as a Regional Broadband Partner of the Maine Connectivity Authority. CMRB serves Lincoln and Sagadahoc Counties, working to ensure full broadband connectivity and affordability for homes and businesses while promoting digital equity throughout coastal Maine. The recent donations to MYC are focused on getting computers in the hands of kids and boosting youth digital literacy, and MYC looks forward to future collaborations.
“Digital access is essential for employment, education, medical services, and financial security,” said Mary Ellen Barnes of Lincoln County & Coastal Maine Regional Broadband. “This partnership with Midcoast Youth Center helps bridge the digital divide in our communities.”
Prior to the donation, CMRB representatives Mary Ellen Barnes and Julie Casson visited MYC to assess needs and review the computer lab space, including discussions about the center’s vision for expanding into video, audio, and photography production.
