Do you work or interact regularly with youth and/or families?

Midcoast Youth Center & Skatepark invites you to a specialized training session for anyone who works with or interacts frequently with youth to become a facilitator of the Iowa State University Strengthening Families Program (SFP).

This evidence-based program is designed to enhance family dynamics by promoting effective parenting strategies, strengthening youth resilience, and fostering healthy communication between parents and children.

The training aims to equip local facilitators with the skills and knowledge needed to successfully implement the program in their communities, benefiting families and youth alike.

During the training, participants will engage in hands-on workshops, role-playing exercises, and group discussions to learn key SFP principles and facilitation techniques. They will also explore strategies for fostering family bonding, teaching youth life skills, and addressing challenges faced by families.

Facilitators will be asked to participate in one family cohort (group) training. The family trainings will take place on either a Tuesday or Wednesday evening for 2 hours over 7 weeks in 2025.

Each facilitator will earn a $1500 to complete the 3-day training and participate in one 7-week cohort.
