Fifteen Graduate from Midcoast Youth Center’s Work Readiness Training Program, Next Class Starts Soon
Midcoast Youth Center recently graduated 15 youth from its Career Opportunities and Advancing Skills Together (COAST) workforce training program which connects 16–24-year-old students and young adults to meaningful and engaging career and community learning opportunities.
COAST is a paid 5-week training program covering topics such as writing a resume, preparing for a job interview, financial literacy, teamwork, and flexibility. After completion of the course, MYC helps place the students into a paid work experience. Eleven of the fifteen students that graduated in late August are currently working and the remaining 4 are either participating in an internship or actively pursuing employment.
The next COAST training starts on October 24 and meets every week for 5 weeks. Participants should enter the COAST group with a desire to learn and to also explore career opportunities provided by the program. Pre-registration is required. Please contact MYC for more information.
Interested businesses or organizations willing to host a participant of COAST can reach out to Jenn Dobransky, Workforce Development Director at MYC, jenn@midcoastyouth.org or 207-770-1256.
In 2022, Midcoast Youth Center (MYC) received a Maine Career Exploration Grant from the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development which allowed for the creation of this unique program designed to prepare young people for the workplace.
